More than small classes...
A lot of schools can claim small class size, great programming and terrific faculty. So what makes BCSspecial? Academic excellence in a Christ-centered environment. This means a comprehensive school program that nurtures the whole child – mind, body and spirit – while teaching them to ask questions, develop self-confidence and grow as children of God.
Our outstanding curriculum is a result of our teachers taking an active role in defining benchmarks from national standards documents and Florida Academic Content Standards; incorporating the best in child development theory and infusing all areas with a Christian worldview. BCS’s programming is well-planned and organized using creative, innovative instructional strategies that support, challenge and link current learning to experience and previous learning. Children’s abilities are expanded and skills are developed. We teach and assess for understanding, not just for the next test. BCS’s commitment to quality academics is reflected in our test scores, which compare favorably both locally and nationally with respected Christian, independent and public schools. And you need look no further than our impressive list of college acceptances and matriculations to see that our students perform at a high level and reach even higher. But the most impressive fact about BCS might be that our students really do love to learn and grow here. We’re doing more than training good test takers – we are preparing the next generation of Christian leaders to go out and make a difference in the world. Summer Reading Program
The summer reading program for the BCS secondary students is an important part of our school readiness program. Students who participate in a reading program have shown to be more prepared for the upcoming school year.
