Mrs. Stephany Schler Joins BCS Math Department
Stephany Schler graduated from Missouri University of Science and Technology in December of 2010. She earned a 4.0 GPA in Applied Mathematics and Secondary Education. She served as President of the Missouri S&T Student Missouri State Teacher’s Association where she organized and participated in many volunteer activities. One of these volunteer activities was the local Friday Backpack Program. Members of her organization would pack food for students who didn’t have access to it on the weekends. Giving back to the community is important to her and is one of the things that drew her to Brevard Christian School.
While student teaching, the Missouri S&T Teacher Education Program partnered with the South-Central Regional Professional Development Center in order to include professional development seminars in the curriculum. These include 3-Tiered Instruction, Technology in the Classroom, Differentiated Instruction, Classroom Management, Principals’ Expectations for New Teachers, and Advanced SMART Boards Training. Mrs. Schler believes teachers continue to learn and grow just as much as students. After graduating, Mrs. Schler taught Mathematics at Simonsen 9th Grade Center in Jefferson City, Missouri as a long term substitute. She completed all the duties of the regular teacher including grading, lesson planning, and parent teacher conferences. Her greatest accomplishments were motivating students to learn and establishing lines of communication with the parents. She is grateful for the many learning experiences and opportunities to impact students. Mrs. Schler’s philosophy on education is that all students can learn. She believes this requires a lot of hard work on her part and the students’ parts. Lessons will incorporate technology and fun activities as much as possible while maintaining focus on daily goals. She will provide opportunities for students to succeed which will then motivate them to want to learn more. Mrs. Schler is excited to work in a community and family of faith. | Mr. Ric Daly Joins BCS Science Department
Mr. Ric Daly a 29 year veteran of the classroom will arrive at BCS just in time for the second semester. To better serve our students as the Secondary Principal, Mrs. Sue Schwanda will be moving into more of a full-time role as program director and college planning coordinator. Mr. Daly will take on several of her classes and begin working with us to develop our Science and Math department for the future.
His recognitions include nominations for the Presidential Award for excellence in Science Teaching, the Tandy Award for Outstanding Science teacher, nominations for Arizona’s Outstanding Science Teacher, and several nominations for “Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers”. His personal philosophy in education is to see his students grow into adults who can make responsible decisions based upon understanding information consistent with a knowledge of God, to direct them in understanding that information in the broad context of the world as it relates to the will of God and to develop an awareness of the need to know. He believes in working toward these goals through integration and application across subject areas and an understanding of the Scriptures and in seeing that students learn how to learn, develop a desire to learn and to carry their sense of curiosity beyond the classroom.
